Birthday Party Crafts - Keep It Simple and Your Sure To Please Birthday party crafts don't have to be elaborate and often these types of crafts are just too complicated for young children. For a 2 to 3 hour party, you'll want to choose two crafts. A craft is a great way to start off a party. Kids will be self-conscious when they arrive and getting them enthralled in a birthday party craft can be the perfect cure for this as they'll be focused on what they're doing and not themselves. For an ice-breaker type craft, choose a craft that needs little supervision and does not create much of a mess. Decorating hats or boxes is a great choice. Also, a paperdoll craft is perfect because it only requires a glue stick. Be sure to layout the supplies on a per guest basis so there are no sharing issues. Simply set-up your craft table as you would with setting your dining table for a meal - one set of craft materials at each setting. Be sure to have the children share there finished products with each other as this can be a great opportunity for guests to further interact. Doing a second craft just before cake cutting will help settle kids down. Choose something that can be done quickly as generally kids are excited to get to the treats after playing some games. Finally, keep in mind that you can break up the craft time. If your craft requires dry time, like painting treasure chests or jewelry boxes, let kids paint first and then, after playing a game, they can return to the craft and the paint will be dry. At that point, they can complete the craft.
